COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR GARNESHA CRAWFORD ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE FROM CITY HALL
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, Director of Communications Garnesha Crawford announced that she will leave her post on Jan.16, 2015, to pursue a position with Bloomberg Philanthropies in New York City.
Crawford has served as the City’s Communications Director since July 2013. In this capacity, she manages media relations on behalf of the City and serves as the spokesperson for Mayor Landrieu. During her three years of service in New Orleans, Crawford also helped to enhance special event and Mardi Gras clean-up operations under the direction of the Deputy Mayor of Operations. She also served as a member of the Mayor’s Innovation Delivery Team to reduce wait times for key city services and supported the launch of key initiatives including the One Stop Shop and Event Support Team.
“Garnesha has been a trusted advisor and did a remarkable job leading the communications and public relations efforts for all of our departments and agencies, especially during major events and emergencies, getting critical information to the public in new and innovative ways. She has been especially impactful in helping to shape our public-facing work with NOLA FOR LIFE.” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “I want to personally thank Garnesha for her hard work and service on behalf the people of New Orleans.”
